We are pleased to announce Dr. Kristen Grauman, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Texas at Austin as our Transformative Technologies Keynote at the 12th Annual TFI Communications Technology & Asset Valuation Conference Jan. 26-27, 2017 in downtown Austin.
An expert in Artificial Intelligence, Professor Grauman studies how computers process, interpret, and act on visual data, including video. This puts her at the center of so many of the technologies that will impact the communications industry: autonomous vehicles, drones, robots, augmented reality, IoT, cognitive computers, etc. Who knows, there may come a day when computers consume more video than people do, meaning even more bandwidth demand for our networks to cope with.
Professor Grauman has an amazing resume.
Professor Grauman leads the Computer Vision Group in the Department of Computer Science at UT-Austin. She received her Ph.D. from MIT in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 2006. Her research in computer vision and machine learning focuses on visual search and object recognition.
She is an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow and Microsoft Research New Faculty Fellow, a recipient of NSF CAREER and ONR Young Investigator awards, the Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas System, the Computers and Thought Award from the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, and a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. She serves on the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Computer Vision and as an Associate Editor in Chief for the Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
Great News! Award-winning Author, Futurist, Entrepreneur, Technologist, and Publisher of Gigaom, Byron Reese will join us for our 12th Annual TFI Communications Technology & Asset Valuation Conference, Jan. 26-27, 2017 in downtown Austin. Our own Carrie Vanston will interview Byron in an hour-long session devoted to the revolutionary technologies that will help shape communications as well as our lives.
Byron has an especially broad view of technology change, having just wrapped up Gigaom Change, a major conference covering seven disruptive technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Virtual & Augmented Reality, Robotics, Cybersecurity, and Human-Machine Interfaces.
Special bonus: All attendees will get a free copy of Byron’s book Infinite Progress which provides an optimistic view of our future. Nice!
We are very fortunate and pleased indeed that Byron has agreed to participate!
Shout-Out for Questions: Please let us know if you have any questions you’d like us to ask Byron.
